Family History
|
Family Cornelia has been part of three dynasties to date; the first was the Second Dynasty, also known as the First Cornelia Dynasty. This Dynasty lasted through three Patricians; Bellona, Ianuarius, and Laelius, with a total dynastic reign of thirty-five years. It was during the reign of Patrician Bellona that the raids against the Kingdom of the Two Rivers started in the year 420. Patrician Bellona also cared for the three surviving children of Patrician Aelia as though they were her own, until they reached maturity. This allowed Family Aimilia to survive into the current day. She also passes the law which made religious and social ceremonies as brief as possible after an attack by a pack of Canis Dirus/Dire Wolves killed three and injured two during a wedding ceremony. Guards also began to be posted at all social gatherings as a result.
During the reign of Patrician Ianuarius in the year 445, laws are passed raising the age of maturity for men and women to the age of 16 instead of the onset of puberty. This was done as a response to observation over time that older girls tended to have fewer complications during delivery compared to younger girls. This results in increased chances of the mother surviving delivery, though it does not remove the risk entirely. In the year 449, he creates the tradition of Guardians to replace the role of handmaidens, along with new social reforms including the removal of many of the stigmas attached to sex and adultery. An emphasis on having as many children as possible to combat high child mortality rates are also introduced at this time. The current traditions regarding children, and the removal of a negative stigma toward bastards, developed during this time as well; although the negative stigma towards adulterers remains to this day.
During the reign of Patrician Laelius in the year 451, requirements of nobility are changed to emphasize survival over bloodlines. This also creates the opportunity for plebians to potentially become nobility. This was done to promote long-term survival of the people and culture, and to create new nobles for genetic diversity. This also created the current standard for determining who reigns as Patrician as well.
Patrician Bellona reigned from the year 420 to the year 430, making her the first Patrician to reign for longer then five year after the foundation of the Nation of Ningo in their new lands. Patrician Ianuarius reigned from the year 430 to the year 450, he was the eldest son of Bellona, and is tied with Pratrician Benedetta of Family Antonia for the third longest reign of any Patrician. Patrician Laelius reigned from the year 450 to the year 455. He was the grandson of Ianuarius and died due to illness.
Next was the Sixth Dynasty, also known as the Second Cornelia Dynasty. This Dynasty lasted through three Patricians as well; Naevius, Laurentia, and Balbus, with a total dynastic reign of fifty-six years. Patrician Naevius reigned from the year 534 to the year 555, and holds the record for the second longest reigning Patrician to date. Patrician Laurentia reigned from the year 555 to the year 567, and was the daughter of Naevius. Patrician Balbus reigned from the year 567 to the year 590. He was the nephew of Patrician Laurentia, and holds the record for the longest reigning Patrician, to date.
Finally, there is the Ninth Dynasty or the Third Cornelia Dynasty. This is the currently ruling Dynasty of the Ningo, and has had a total dynastic reign so far of sixteen years. Patrician Agostino, the only Patrician of this Dynasty so far, has reigned from the year 659 to the present. With the alliance by marriage with the Kingdom of the Two Rivers, Patrician Agostino is viewed as bringing about a new age for the Ningo.
