The Combat
Melee Combat
Until we have a working combat system we need to rely on +rolls, when it comes to combat. These are simple enough: An attacker would +roll his weapon skill against the Defense skill of the char that is being attacked, for example:
+roll Markus=Sword vs Tallis=Defense
An attack pose will precede this roll, the outcome will be posed afterwards, and then it would be the other player's turn to attack. Usually the attacker will perform this +roll.
Results will be displayed as one of the following:
- DRAW
- <player> wins: Marginal Victory
- <player> wins: Solid Victory
- <player> wins: Crushing Victory
Consequences/injuries should be posed accordingly.
Jousting
Similarly the result of a tilt will be +rolled using the skills Polearms (this is used for handling the lance) and Horsemanship. Both players roll their attack against the opponents Horsemanship, and as the attacks happen simultaneously, both are required, even if the first player should unhorse his opponent with his attack. Rolls will look like this:
+roll Fordric=Polearms vs Manfred=Horsemanship +roll Manfred=Polearms vs Fordric=Horsemanship
Each +roll will have a result (see above). These will be rewarded according to the following rules:
Rules
After each pass points will be awarded to the players, to make sure a winner can be determined after the third pass of a round. Unhorsings do occur, but not necessarily.
Only victories of the attacker (Polearm) will earn points, though, according to the following rules:
- Marginal Victory: 1 point
- Solid Victory: 3 points
- Crushing Victory: The player wins this round instantly, as he has managed to unhorse his opponent.
Should a victory through points not be possible after three passes, more passes can follow. A double unhorsing (i.e. if both opponents are simultaneously unhorsed) will lead to a melee like combat on the ground to decide the winner.
