"YOU CAN'T MOVE MOUNTAINS!"

The Kingdom of Estoria is dominated by mountains, and so the wealth of the land depends on the treasures that can be found deep within the rock through extensive mining. The kingdom is organized in five regions, the main House of Gylkrohn being the ruling family, while the other four are Duchies that owe their king allegiance - and taxes. Those have increased in the past, officially due to the threat from the east within the neighboring kingdom of Two Rivers suffering from plague and famine - and poverty as well. This required the King to increase the patrols along the border to protect against both the bandits roaming those Woods of Woriscant, and from a possible invasion from the Trivarians. A less official explanation, not publicly uttered by those who value their lives, is that the current King Hroaldr Gylkrohn prefers to live in luxury. And he rules the kingdom with a firm hand, relying on his loyal vassals of House Arnstor and Hrossmork. House Galtiblar however is rumored to plan a revolt - impoverished as it is, over the fact the King has named his own son as heir, instead of who the true heir is. House Bjornsvartr has somehow managed to remain unobtrusive, and as some might say, unremarkable in the current situation at court.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY: The Region of Verauor contains the Great Barrier mountains to the east, the sea to the south, and a few straggling foothills dotting some forested areas prized for it's abundance of trees, mainly that of oak. Castle Stromsten is built upon a ledge of rock overlooking Skjaldborg Bay, an inlet of water protected both by land, and the forces that can easy close it off if ever need be.

The Region has moderately cold winters and warm summers. Its average annual temperature is 10.6 °C (51.1 °F), with monthly mean temperatures ranging from 1.6 °C (34.9 °F) in January to 20.0 °C (68.0 °F) in July. Within the higher mountains, the weather can be colder and sometimes harsh with snow falls that can close off passes into Two Rivers.

To the north end of the Region is the area's only major inland waterway, Blar Lake, where one city sits, the roadway from it leading into the lands held by the House of Hrossmork in the Duchy of Fevang.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY: The Duchy of Bjornstad has the greatest amount of seaside land out of all the land of Estoria, stretching from it's southern around to it's eastern border. For this, it enjoys a warmer climate due to winds and temperature from the sea. In summer, temperatures sometimes rise up to 35 °C (95 °F) and higher. In comparison to other regions of Estoria, the Duchy has a higher humidity in summer which causes a higher heat index. Snow is rare, even in the cold months. Precipitation occurs mostly during afternoon thunderstorms during the warmer period (average days of thunderstorms in a year is 40–50). Climate in this area has mild dfferences between highs and lows, and there is adequate rainfall year round. Even it's scattered mountains do not see much in the way of snowfall during the winter.

To the southwest just off the shore, lies a long island that is not suitable for habitation. It's rockiness makes it difficult for growing any crops. It's resources come in another way as the breeding place of many sea birds and seals. For this, the locals call it Kopur Island.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY: This duchy contains the least amount of seaside land of all the areas of Estoria, and it's landmass mostly covered with rough hills of red stone and clay. Most of it's farming or wooded areas come between the two major chains of hills in Miolibrek Valley, and to the east side. The three lakes known together as Prinipit Lakes (Elder – north larger lake, Middle - southern mid-sized lake ,and Younger – western smaller lake) reside just off the end of the hills, along with the larger lake, Eyvat tucked away in the northwestern part of the Duchy near the borders of both the duchy of Fevang and Fjallmen.

The duchy's climate is semi-arid and is prone to drought, annually receiving between 16 and 32 inches (810 mm) of precipitation. During the summer, this area sees the most clear days. Winter nights commonly see temperatures fall below the freezing mark, or 32 °F (0 °C). The wettest months of the year are April and May.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY: While landlocked and bordered by the Great Barrier mountains to the east, this duchy still contains a large body of water in the presence of Mikillva Lake. Otherwise, much of the area consists of steppes, with forested areas comprising only 11.2% of the total land area, and that being between the mountains and the lake. On the other side of the lake, grasslands extend towards the boarders.

The Duchy has moderately cold winters and warm summers. Its average annual temperature is 10.6 °C (51.1 °F), with monthly mean temperatures ranging from 1.6 °C (34.9 °F) in January to 20.0 °C (68.0 °F) in July.
