Room Desc: Beyond the gates lies the main square of the city of Deavell. The focal point of the square is the beautiful fountain found in the middle; a large lily bush carved from marble, and to the delight of all, water is found to squirt from each flower into the basin that surrounds it. Benches are found placed about the fountain, offering places to sit near it, while others are placed beneath the few trees that dot the area, offering shade on sunny days. The square is a favored place for people to picnic when the weather is pleasant. It is easy to reach everything you need from this plaza. There are roads to the public bath house, the Deave Inn, the guild's square on the right, and there are paths to the market, public gardens, stables on the left. There is a wide cobbled road to the west that leads towards an inner walled area. From over this wall, it is possible to see towers of the castle.

It is warm on this late afternoon, and so the fountain in the center of Deave Plaza seems to be a point of attraction for a small group of children, playing with the water. A bit further away, on an bench in the shade of a tree sits a woman with fiery red hair, that has been arranged into an impressive hairdo. The dress she wears a dark blue, and looking actually quite expensive. Behind the bench stands a shadow, leans against the tree rather, while pale blue eyes scan the Plaza with a sort of lazy confidence.

Edris lets out a content sigh. She enjoys the short time of leisure it seems. A bit of amusement sparkles in her grey-green eyes as she watches the children having fun with the water. "So young... and still so innocent," she mutters, more to herself really.

Imma, herself, has just come from market, bearing a basket which rests its handle on both of her forearms, while she clutches one elbow with her opposite hand and vice versa, letting the basket proper bounce against the front of her skirts as she heads up along one side of the plaza, back straight, head tall. She //is// quite tall for her age, and if one thinks it odd for a Lady of her standing to go to market herself instead of sending a servant, it's only because she's not afraid of a bit of a walk or to dirty her hands with things which must be done-- and who can trust a servant to get things right, anhow? Her eyes are drawn to the children in the fountain, and she lifts her chin for a moment before simply shaking her head. "They'd be better off put to chores while there's still light out," she opines.

The head of the fiery haired woman turns as she hears the comment, and after a moment the leaves her comfortable seat on the bench and rises, her skirts rustling, to offer Imma a curtsey. Edris has keen eyes, and while many prefer not acknowledge her as acquaintance, she is quite good at connecting faces of known nobility with names. After all, Imma had been seen recently at the tourney where her hand in marriage was offered as the prize. And lately, the name Grunhaid had been mentioned a lot, although not always in flattering contexts. "My lady, why not allow them a bit of fun before they get too old to be allowed to enjoy themselves...?", she counters with a soft chuckle. "They are children, aren't they?"

Imma doesn't quite look at Edris, watching the children, instead. "There's nothing wrong with a bit of fun. But those two I saw wandering idle, earlier, as well. Idle children are wont to get into mischief, and so they're better kept to chores, if they're not being set to lessons. It's all well and good to say, 'but they are children.' When else is one supposed to learn that one might not simply do what he or she likes all day, but has work to do?"

Edris smiles at the reply, it someohow manages to ammuse her. She'll shoot her guard a glance before she leaves the shade of the tree to move over where Imma is. "Perhaps this has not been something that has been granted to you, Lady Imma?" Inquired with a friendly, almost empathic tone. "I do not agree with you there. Forgive me. Duties may be fine, but not all day, from the moment you get up till you go to sleep at night. This would be a fate I would not dare to wish my fiercest enemy." A soft chuckle leaves her lips as those grey-green eyes find the children at the fountain once again. "Hear their laughter? I find it delightful."

Imma looks unmoved by the laughter, only her lips switching into a tight purse off-kilter with the rest of her features as Edris tries to psychoanalyze her. "I've never lacked for leisure time, but on the whole I'd rather be doing something useful. At least while the sun doth shine, which is kindly set in the sky to give us ease to do those things which must be done. At eventide one may take ones rest in any number of pleasant ways besides sleep." She finally glances aside to Edris, one corner of her mouth ticking upward, as though to append, 'as well you know.'

"I am glad to hear that," Edris assures with an amiable smile. "That you do not lack for leisure time... But tell me, you must be looking forward to that one useful duty, to marry that foreigner...? As much as you seem to be yearning for being of use." A soft chuckle there as she delivers that pinch. That other hint ellicits another chuckle. "Oh yes, I am perfectly aware of that." A wink is offered. She knows Imma knows, and she wants her to know she does. "Sometime duty and pleasure can actually go hand in hand..." This an observation as well as maybe some reassuring remark to the Grunhaid lady.

"Well-- yes, if you must know," Imma smiles. "I'll have an estate of my own to manage, and I plan to manage it tightly and bring good coin to her Majesty's coffers." Never a more proud Solicitor-to-Be. Note, of course, that the actual husband part of it plays into her plans... by being completely absent from her commentary. "And yes, I shall take pleasure in that," she lifts her chin, turning Edris' attempt at innuendo deftly back against her with a playful flicker of a smile.

"It seems the Queen made the right decision, in awarding you that honour," Edris observes with a smile, her brow twitching ever so lightly when she notices her not mentioning the husband to be. "Good." This the reply to Imma's second remark. "You seem to find him attractive then...? Or is that an impertinent question, coming from one such as me, Lady Imma?"

"How I find him isn't much your affair," Imma replies, though less coldly than one might imagine. "Then, neither is it much mine, I suppose," she admits. "He won the tourney, so he must have some good qualities. Though to look at him one might not think he could win in a tournament of baby kittens." She's a tall, hearty girl, after all, and he somewhat willowy and slight in stature.

"Indeed it isn't much my affair," Edris replies, lowering her gaze. "You saw him at the tourney, so you should know how he won? Dedicated to his aim to win. Now if he is as dedicated in other areas as well," and there she smirks, "you must consider yourself lucky. And don't let yourself be deceived by outer appearances. They do not often keep up with the truth." The remark seems to make her thoughts wander however. "Forgive me, my lady, but in what way is Lord Avraham Grunhaid related to you, if I may ask...?" One hand moves to push a stray red strand of her from her view, that has escaped her hairdo.

"He's my cousin. I don't doubt but that you know him," Imma shakes her head, though she smiles at the same time. "See what comes of children who have too much of free time? They have no notion how to conduct themselves. And I'm sure Lord Vandrick is quite... well," she settles on the word. "Whether or not I am lucky I suppose we will have to wait and see."

A soft chuckle is the reply to Imma's comment on Lord Avraham. "Indeed, you have a point there. Touche." She obviously has at least heard about her cousin. "He has visited the Night's Dream some time ago," she admits then. "You and he don't really see much of each other then, I suppose, as you follow so different convictions and goals in life...?" The question comes with a curious glance, assessing Imma as she studies her reaction.

Imma seems more disdainful of her cousin's behavior than embarrassed by it. "Not much, no, but one hears tales, of course, and he does nothing to disprove them. I doubt he even minds," she muses quietly for a moment before shaking it off with a roll of her eyes. "Now I'm tardy in returning to the palace," she marks the fact, dissatisfied. "And I have my own work to get done. Good day," she bids this... person, before being on her way.

Edris inclines her head. "Another example why women rule indeed in this kingdom," she remarks with a smile. "And... a good day to you as well, Lady Imma. I thank you for the talk." A deep curtsey is offered, a proper one, suited for the court, and her head is lowered. Straightening her grey-green eyes will follow Imma however, as she hurries off, and Edris' lips will curve into a thoughtful smile.
