It had been another long day for those of too little significance to take part in tedious meetings and negotiations, so Sir Baldwin Ivounel had chosen to explore the area on his own. He had loaned a horse from the stables, a brown stud of moderate temper, and chosen to explore the woods outside of the city of Deavel. His ride had taken many hours, during which he had been able to hunt two rabbits with his bow and arrow. These two animals dangle from his saddle now, as he enters the village of Piradin at a cautious trot, already suspecting he took the wrong turn and left the woods in another direction than that from which he came. His grey-blue eyes brush the common folk lingering in the dirty streets, study the rather modest houses and huts that comprise Piradin, his lips already curving slightly downward, as his left comes to rest on the pommel of his sword.
Ottis backs into view, and as he's back peddling there are three toughs with pointed dirks at him. "Gentlemen, gentlemen. No need to get agitated. All I did was ask if your Quint town had a smithy. If you plan to rob me, well I must say my purse isn't all that fat.. you'd have better luck finding someone with more coin than I... "
Out of the brothel Slider comes and like all others he is grinning, winking and checking his purse for missing things or extra things. Though as he turns and moves down the street, he moves along like he is not afraid of much but since he is in Piradin, he is cautious at least. It is a voice familiar to him that makes him look down on the the streets and then sighs, moving slowly towards the assailants and Ottis. "Gentlemen, gentlemen, please, he is but nothing and poor. Just let the man go for now and I may be able to send you on your way with a extra coin or two in your purses."
Baldwin has recognized Ottis as well, it shows in the way his grey-blue eyes narrow, as he urges his steed on to bring him closer to the smith. Then dismounting swiftly, as he steps closer and draws his sword. "Back with you, scum! Leave this good man alone. Cowards. There are three of you. And he is alone!", the knights barks indignantly, his free hand still holding on to the reins of his horse. You never know, in filthy places as these. His gaze flits to Slider, and he seems to relax a bit, even if Baldwin's eyes may have widened a touch at the type of place the man had emerged from. "Marcus," he remarks firmly, shaking his head. "These men are in need of a lesson, your generosity will be wasted on them."
Ottis looks left, then right as Slider and Baldwin show up. The three toughs back up just enough so that they aren't surrounded. Even though Ottis doesn't have a single weapon on him. What Ottis can see that maybe the others can't (save Baldwin with perception test) are those few who seem to have taken interest in this and step out of various buildings many drawing blades much longer than that of the three with dirk.
<FS3> Baldwin rolls Perception: Good Success.
At seeing Baldwin Marcus looks to the man and then shakes his head at the words coming out of the Knight. Then he slowly steps between the three men and Ottis as well as Baldwin. Now facing the men. "Gentlemen, please, do not take his words to heart. He does not know better and I ask for your forgiveness for his insults. I know your looking for fun and if you like, you could take your leave with a few more coins like I mentioned before. I mean I will take this. " As he pulls out a small purse with a few coins and it jingles. "I can hand it over and we all be good, all go our separate ways." The only weapons that Marcus seems to have visible is his handle of a blade on the left side back, just over his shoulder. "Baldwin, Ottis, the rules here are different, we will lose if you persue this course of action."
Baldwin frowns as he notices more men crawling out of their humble huts, the weapons in their hands do not escape his attentive gaze. "Ottis, this is bad indeed," he hisses in the weapon smith's direction. "Two more with shortswords, over there. Plus another with longsword and one with a spear to the other side..." His gaze flickers, as he tightens the grasp about the handle of his own sword. Looking indeed puzzled and displeased at Slider's attempt of solving the dilemma. <"They'll rob us!">, he hisses, in the Two Rivers tongue. <"I swear, I won't attack, only defend..."> "Stand back, and nothing will happen to you!", he adds, in the Common Tongue, towards the lowly born scum that slowly closes in about them. His glare menacing, to say the least. His tone not quite keeping up.
Ottis with Slider providing and arm'd and possibly armored body in front of the three dirk wielding toughs, Ottis slowly moves to stand beside Baldwin. Saying in the Two Rivers Tongue <Damn I wish I had my hammer at least.> as he gives a slight chuckle.
The thugs just grin as the four head down the street, the two with short swords flanking the longsword man, while the one with the cruel looking spear brings up the rear. The three toughs seeing Ottis move, come three abreast "Now what yer gonna do pal is drop yer purses. All of them and we might then let ya go.. "

Well, it seems that the men are not going to be taking the purse, seems they are bloodthirsty and so like a simple man that knows his life is on the line he steps back closer to the other two, making a protective circle of sorts. <"Ottis, take my blade, I have others."> as he says them words, he reaches behind his back and pulls out two wicked looking dagger length blades, that seem to be heavy ended at the blade area. They actually do look brand new. " I suggest to kill as they pretty much going to kill us anyways, been here, done that." there is a wicked sparkle in his eyes and there is that grin as well. "Come on boy's, time to meet my babies. Oh and Ottis, Moira may need a sharpening after this." as he gets ready.
"You'll get naught, you filthy scum!", is Baldwin's harsh reply to the armed men. And maybe he has no purse on him anyway to appease them. Either way, he raises his sword for all to see, ready to slash it down on an attacker. "Step back, this is my last warning." He said he'll only defend. But that was before Slider drew his own hideous looking weapons. His grey-blue eyes have a cold and determined look to them, however. These won't be the first bandits he will kill.
The man with the wicked spear continues to come on as does the one with the longsword. The two short sword wielding men tear off running as they've seen the high quality blades and the two men willing to use them. Two of toughs start to backpedal and run while the third stubbornly holds his ground.
Ottis makes no moves to draw a blade of any kind as he just holds his place while Marcus and Sir Baldwin brandish weapons he can not see much past the horse or Marcus's body but he can hear booted feet pounding dirt as many it seems are now running away.
Slider looks towards the men running, raising a brow and then looks as others seem to stay but he does not set his guard down, his eyes watching the ones that stayed behind. " I really think you should go with your friends." he says in a much nicer way than before.
A bit of air leaves Baldwin's lungs as he sees at least four of the seven run off. Still,... the guy with the sword, a spearman and a thug with a dirk remains. "I've warned you.", he remarks, as his sword comes down, aiming to disarm the swordsman with a swift and skillful blow. "We are guests in your country, and this is the way you choose to treat us?"

The spear wielder just laughs. "this is my town, your not welcome here. " as he and the two remaining (longsword and dirk ) get ready, but the dirk man seems a bit on the worried side. as he looks at Slider and his twin blades.
Slider slowly advances on the dirk wielding fellow and grins. "Come say hi to Moira.." as he makes a lunge at the man trying to skewer him.

Ottis just watches as his two companions engage the two fighters, while the spear wielding man watches, his eyes fall upon Ottis and grins. Ottis isn't liking that look but continues to move so that the man with the spear would have to go thru Baldwin or Slider to get to him.

The dirk wielder thrusts to stab Slider, who smacks the blade wide with one of his blades and stabs the man a second time. Causing the man to grunt and stagger back.. Slider press's the advantage until the man breaks and runs. His Dirk dropped into the street as his hands are pressing against his wounds. The spear wielder hmmms "Well guess you blokes are a bit tougher than most. " as he brings his spear off his shoulder and brings it at the ready. His hard eyes following you both.
The horse lets out a scared whinny and starts to prance, as all the smell of bloodshed and sounds of steel clashing on steel seem to trouble the animal. Baldwin is still on his feet, but he bleeds from two wounds now, his leg and his side equally hurting and causing him discomfort. His grey-blue eyes follow the severed head of the man he suddenly decapitates so easily, in stunned fascination. Before her remembers the spear guy Ottis has to deal with. "Hey, meet your death.", he hollers at the man, alerting him to his next attack.

Between the attack of Sir Baldwin and the Amazing feat that slider pulls with a Sicsor cut that severs the spears head about a foot down and the sheer miss of the thrown dirk from Ottis the man is startled for a moment as he then toss's his shattered spear at the two of you, Marcus and Sir Baldwin before retreating down an alley way. Thinking if you chose to follow there are more waiting to end your lives but in a straight up fight.. Not so much.
Baldwin evades the tossed piece of wood with another wince, shaking his head as his gaze follows the villain as he runs off. "We shouldn't follow him, who knows how many more will be lurking there...?", he remarks as he limps towards the horse, reclaims the reins and slowly mounts the animal, his face twisted into a pained grimace. "Marcus,...Ottis. We should retreat." he says, in a commanding tone. After all he is a knight. "Follow me." Reigning in the horse before he lets it trot off, towards the woods. Not too hurriedly, but allowing the two commoners to keep up with him.
Ottis doesn't argue and neither for once does Marcus as they both run as best they can to keep up with the trotting horse into the woods. "Lets.. uhn.. not do that again hmm?" as he tries to speak and run at the same time and finds its not nearly as easy as he thought.
