Where: Guest Suite 2 - Castle Equitaine, Duchy of Athereyne
Room Desc: This is a large suite with three connecting rooms - a large, elaborately furnished bedroom for visiting dignitary with a four-poster bed, trunks for storage, a private seating area with two chairs by the fire and a bath tub in one corner. The walls are covered with tapestries, the cold stone floor with thick woven rugs. A window looks out towards the harbour. There is a main room with a larger seating area by the fire, a writing desk and a corner where two servants can sleep close to their lord or lady. A third room can be adapted as necessary for more guests or storage.

Madalyn is seated in one of the two chairs near the fireplace, though no fire is burning at the moment. She is just sort of staring at black scorch marks on the stone, lost in her thoughts.

There is a knock on the door, and a knight is shown in. There is a slightly nervous flicker in his grey-blue eyes, the smile he offers is polite as he greets Madalyn with a bow. "Your highness," he says, straightening. "I am Sir Baldwin Ivounel, and have been assigned by the King to ensure your safety. He wears a chainmail, a tabard of yellow and green, and a sword hangs at his side. He will stand there, awaiting some sort of reaction from the white haired Islander.

Madalyn spends one last moment looking at the fireplace before taking a deep breath and rising from her seat. She turns to face the knight, a warm smile on her face as she bows her head in greeting. "It is a pleasure to meet you, sir knight. The King has been most generous to provide someone so capable to watch over me. Has he told you what happened to lead to this situation?"

When he sees that smile Baldwin will lower his gaze. He clears his throat, before he gives his answer. "He has told me you are to stay as a guest," the knight explains. "That you are allowed to go whereever you want, but you need to be watched by two guards, a handmaiden and myself at all times." Said with a dutiful expression on his face. Madalyn may remember him from the Tourney of the Knights, if she had attended that event. Balwin was one of the delegation who has just returned from the Isles as well, but on a different ship.

Madalyn nods in understanding. "I see, so nothing about the unpleasantness that led to me being a guest. How do you feel about the assignment? Surely there are other tasks that are important to you that you wish to have time for."

Baldwin shakes his head. "Unpleasantness?", he sounds suprised at that piece of information. "No. I was told to look after you, though." The next question makes him clear his throat again, and his gaze flickers a little. "I am honoured, th... that the King would assign such a task to me, your highness. And no... I am free, so to speak. His Majesty mentioned you might want to see a bit of the kingdom."

Madalyn sighs softly. "Yes. I am sure you will hear of it eventually, through rumors if not an official announcement of some kind. I will tell you about it if you wish. I am not sure that watching over me is much of an honor, but I would like to see more of the kingdom. I am used to the isles, and this place is very different."

"I am in no position to ask you questions, your highness," Baldwin is quick to affirm. "You do not need to tell me anything." Her comment about Two Rivers being different from the Isles will be met with a nod and a smile. "True indeed. The Isles appeared foreign to me as well, your highness."

Madalyn peers at Baldwin for a moment. "I would prefer if you were not afraid to question me. It will make our time together more fun I think. Do you know the area around here well? Perhaps you could suggest where we should go first."

"I am not afraid to ask you," Baldwin clarifies, looking baffled by Madalyn's reaction. "It's just not my place." The way he lowers his gaze suggests this assignment will be more about duty than fun. Her question will have him look up again, and he will reply: "I hail from Athereyne, your highness. My family resides in Ivounel Manor. I have been to Granville, but I am not sure it is wise to venture there at the moment. The Woods of Woriscant have a certain beauty though, I hear. It is the Duchy of Alajos Fennim."

Madalyn shrugs her shoulders slightly to concede the point, but not looking at all pleased by the knights lack of interest in enjoying himself. "Are woods here not like those on the isles - not that I ever got to go out into them much even on the isles. Maybe we should go there first, if it isn't too much trouble."

Baldwin frowns a little at the mention of woods in the Isles, after all he got lost in them, which led to some trouble. "I would think so," he replies. "It is a journey of a few days, towards the northwest. When would you like to leave?"

Madalyn frowns slightly. "Oh. Days is a long way. We should probably go soon then. I do not know how long I will have you to serve as my guide. Is there anything to see on the way?"

"Um,...well the town of Equis has some nice places," Baldwin replies, a bit hesitantly. We will pass some of them. There is a steep moutain path from where you can look over the harbour, much like the view you enjoy here."
