Where: The Woods
Room Desc: The woods are normally a dark and gloomy place to be, but these are even more so. Several larger paths through the woods lead to the coast of Bridges, another to Grainvil, the third to Steelea, the fourth to Piradin, the fifth to the Deavell - all existing villages in the island. And yet smaller paths, some mere animal trails, may lead to any number of places including abandoned homes, ruins, hidden lakes, or camps belonging to bandits.
You never know what might appear here in the woods. Many of the locals are scared of the place. Yet, hunting here is generally quite successful, with plenty of game to be found, from the smallest rabbits, to the larger wolves and deer that call it home. One piece of advise to always remember: Be careful when in the woods!

Storms! The Isles must love their storms. When the thunder crashes, lightning strikes, and rain pours down. Of course, deep in the dark recesses of the woods, the lightning only minimally fills one's general area of perception with light and the rain pours down in trinkling rivulets of water from the canopy of tree leaves. In some spots, like the random clearing, the rain is more fierce, potentially threatening to drown the forests would be inhabitants or visitors.

Rayne is trying her best to make it back to the city. Having wanted to take some time to herself. No prying eyes, no whispers in the halls, no one to talk to her about how she did or didn't maybe help take a painting she never touched to begin with, or sadly eyeing her from still believing she would take the life of anyone. Her satchel was missing, her clothing torn, and she swore someone...or something...was following the trail of blood she was leaving behind. It had been sudden, and not for lack of keeping an eye out. The storm threw her off, the unfamiliar territory was not her friend, and she would fall to her hands and knees in the middle of a smaller clearing, shifting to sit on her ass and lean against a tree - praying for at least the storm to let up some.

Slider had been following the trail, yes he had misplaced her but she got smart, she left before his shift, at least he called it his shift. So once he found out she was gone, he went to find her, after some asking around and nodding to the ones that seen her, he took it that she went to the woods. He had seen the storm coming from afar but in the woods, you would have no clue. So off he went, find the missing Rayne.

It is late, the darkness is upon them and the rain is pouring, it is dark but except for the flashes, it is the flashes that he uses to follow the broken trail, the blood and the markings of her feet hitting the ground. Finally he can sense she is getting tired, he has hunted men before and had followed them for days and in the same weather. Finally at a small clearing, the flash and he see's her and he moves on closer, he can see she is cold and given up. Without thinking again he removes his cloak and in one instance covers her form and his own body stands back then. "Your a hard person to find"

Something covers Rayne, and at first she had a mind to scream. Yet the scream didn't come, but the voice did find her. Slider. She knew that man's voice from anything and with no regard to self, she stands and shifts to wrap her arms around the man's form. "Dearest goddess, I didn't think anyone would find me..." Her voice is a bit hoarse, and soon after she speaks she coughs. The cloak does well to keep the rain off her, and begins to warm her up some but then she whimpers in pain.

"I...I just wanted to go for a walk. Alone. Clear my head. It's what I do...but then the storm came...and something attacked me. Some...animal I guess..." Adrenaline pushing her through the pain so it was almost like she couldn't feel it. Though she knew that this rush of sorts would soon subside and her green gaze shifts to find Slider's form in another flash of light. "Are we close? To the city? To the inn?" Or any inn at this rate, she just wanted to get out of the storm itself.

Slider looks at her and as she stands up and hugs him he stands there and then puts his arms around her form and rubs her back, trying also to adjust her the cloak on her back and then putting the hood over her head. As he does this he whispers. " Look Rayne, we are not even close, we are to find a place and hide till it is done. How badly hurt are you? I have herbs to numb the pain but the injury it's self ,I can't do anything about." then he lifts his head up, looking around and looks to the ground and then back around. " Can you walk, we head to the tress and I will make us shelter." as he moves along, helping her, letting her lean on him and if she can't, he will carry her, he may be of some age, but he is a fit man, keeping himself tip top shape.

"I know not. It got my legs fairly good, or bad I suppose...but let us get shelter first..and then we'll worry about the rest." Rayne would speak, using Slider as her aide to walk along side to the trees he was speaking of. A couple times she tried to stumble, but she was light enough on her feet that she never stumbled too badly. Though at some point she would tug on his shirt to try and have him pause so she could catch her breath before moving forward once more. "I hope...I did not anger you too much, Marcus."

Marcus does help her along as best he can, his eyes looking down at her to see if the injury was sever or not but in the dark and the rain it was hard. She looks tired but eventually he comes to a small little cave. One more like a entrance to a long tunnel leading some where. He had found it a long time ago, when he was tracking the woods trying to find the one that actualy killed the man. Still he brings her in and then plops her down inside and he looks at her. " I'll be right back." then he is out once again, the rain is harsh and the storm continues and she is alone once again. It may have been a few moments or a bit longer but Marcus comes back in and he is all muddy, wet and carrying something under his shirt. Yes, he is shirtless but as soon as he comes in, he is removing what may be dry branches and dry leaves. " If you know where to look." is all the explanation he gives as he starts working on a fire.

Rayne is deposited onto the ground, and she does well in scooting back to rest against the cave wall. When Marcus speaks that he will be back in a moment she only gives a nod and then she waits. It isn't too long before he's returned, with dry branches and leaves - while he looks a mess of mud and water. "Trees do well sometimes to keep the forest bed dry.." Is her only comment as he begins to build a fire and once the fire is going, Rayne's form is better seen.

Her clothes are ripped to shreds, and her legs are bleeding profusely from large claw marks which could also be found along her back and her front. So whatever it was, probably gave her a friendly hug and ended clawing her legs when she managed to - barely - get away. She keeps that cloak wrapped around her form as she takes a breath and then another, looking to the fire once more. "You think the storm will let up soon?"

Marcus looks at her and then shakes his head. At her question he looks up and listens to the storm and then shrugs. " I seen it roll in a while back, it's going to be a big one, so probably not till day break. Now, let me see your wounds and do not flinch." as he goes by her legs and examines them. " They look like cat marks, big cat..like the ones we ran into the first time we were in the woods together." Then he takes his small water skin and hands it to her. " Take a drink, enough to wet your lips and quench your thirst, the rest to clean your wounds. Your going ot have to tell me what to do, seen it done on me but never myself." as he pulls out a small package, very small but he unwraps it and it has small needles, small string, small vials and each marked with certain artifacts, some do not have names, just letters.

Rayne takes the offered waterskin, drinking from it a bit before offering it back. Watching as Marcus pulls out a small package with needles, string, and vials that have odd markings on them. When he speaks that she will have to walk him through it, she bites her lower lip some. "It is odd for a healer to have to rely on another to do this...but I will try my best to talk you through such a task." Worry and pain a mixture in her voice and how she prayed she had alcohol of some sort. Still, she would do just that, the wider wounds would be the ones that would need the stitching. Everything else would just need to be included in being wrapped with cloth. Clean clothe preferably.

Marcus does not look at her that much, he makes sure that the needle he is going to use is clean, which means putting it over the fire a bit. As he does this he looks to Rayne. " You in much pain, I mean I need you coherent but if it's to much, I have something to numb the pain, it may make you a little drowsy." as he looks at the vials and picks one out and hands it to her. " Drink it all." as he takes the water skin from her and then looks to the wounds. He will follow all instruction on how to do this, even dressing the wounds if need be. Rayne will find that Marcus has agile fingers, he works well and he is precise. The instructions given come easily to him and he does it. His focus on the task ultimate, he does look up on occasion, making sure rayne is alright.

Rayne looks to the vial, then to Marcus, and then to the vial again. So this is what people feel when she sort of hands them something and says to drink this. Though she would usually give an explanation of what they were drinking. Still, she would open the vial and drinks the contents of it down, making a sort of face after doing so. Then she's instructing him through and she takes note of how agile his fingers are and meticulous to details he is. "You almost seem to have a natural talent at this..." Saying that as he binds the last of her wounds. "Thank you, Marcus."

Rayne should feel a bit dizzy, it takes affect quickly but the sedative hits hard after a bit. His eyes look at her and then grins. " Like I said, I used to watch a good friend of mine do it on me and others. I seen him but he had a gift, I did not. I was simply a friend that gathered herbs for him and mixed it, his talents where to heal people and cure, not mind." then he sits across from her, across the fire, sitting, his knees in front of him as he arms rest on his knees and he rests his chin on there. " Go to sleep, you heal faster when you sleep, I'll watch." he says calmly. " No worries either, ain't going ta take advantage, I could but I'll respect ya." he winks and smiles, then he watches her.

Rayne blinks a little before shaking her head some. "Well, whatever you learned from him or by watching him...it is certainly impressive..." She would speak, her words becoming slow and slurred, and before long she's slightly slumping back against the cavern wall. "...Awful nice of you..." Though to what extent those words were meant is perhaps unknown, and soon Rayne would fall into a nice, vial-induced slumber.

(( Imagine a sort of fading and then re-emerging thing ))

Last things eh may have seen is Marcus moving on over quickly to her side and putting a pillow under her head and then covering her up with a very warm blanket,, feeling very warm and protected.

Early next morning or afternoon, not sure, the storm has passed and the sounds of birds can be heard. Rayne would find she is covers up nicely. Marcus used himself to keep her warm at night, covering her with his cloak and his own body and arms. He is asleep, he does not snore and seems to be very sounds asleep.

There's a stirring of her form as Rayne finds the sound of birds breaking through her slumber. A grunt, a shift, and soon she's met with the pain of her wounds - a thing which could make her cry out gently. Though when she finds herself a bit more weighted, she finds that it is because Marcus is draped against her form. So she pulls away a bit more pointedly then and she shakes her head some.

Marcus stirs as she moves and then slowly wakes up, he is still covered in mud and then he looks to her, waking up in a hurry, searching around for something behind him He did find it but keep it to his back and then smiles to Rayne and looks around. " How you feeling." amazingly he is awake instantly, like he had been awake all the while. He moves then and looks to her legs and sighs. " Well, we will need to get you to a proper place, this will not do and we may take most of the day. " he stands up and stretches a bit, looks to the fire that has been dead a long time ago and then frowns. " Can you walk, are you in pain, I have more for the pain." he says, concern in his eyes.

Rayne grunts a little, shifting then to attempt to stand on her own two feet and she nods. "Aye, I can walk. It kinda hurts but I can bear it for now." She wasn't going to say she would be able to walk perfectly for the entire length of time it would take to reach town once more, but she would try. "So...we should probably get to it then..." She wasn't going to push herself past any sort of limitation of course.

Marcus nods as he puts his shirt on that he ahd used, it's all pretty much dirty and wet still but he seems to ignore it. He does look at her and lets her use his cloak and makes sure it wraps around her easily and then looks at her. " Come on then, lean on me and we shall go. Once outside I can tell where the town is, alright?" as he starts to guide her outside and low and behold, woul you not beleave what is standing out there, a cat, not a small one but a big cat. There is a growl coming from it and Marcus stops. " Go back inside." he says slowly.

Rayne follows him outside the cave, taking in the sights and scents of a forest freshly calmed by a good storm. Though it didn't take away from the dismal overall feeling of the forest, she wasn't really deterred by such a thing. Though as they exited the cave, as if to make their way back to town, she heard the growl before she saw the cat and while she would back up a couple paces, she wasn't about to just leave Marcus out to fend for himself. "Lend me a blade and let me help you..." Cause, injured people are amazing helpers!

Marcus keeps on looking at the cat and if his eyes could roll, they roll at her words. "Damnit women..." he steps slowly back. " Take the sword on my back and get inside. I can't defend myself if I have to worry about you." It is then that the cat growls, that one growl that simply tells its about to attack. The handle of the blade on his back is over his right shoulder but as the cat lunges it was straight at him and Marcus falls back on his back. The cat is quick, he could not pull out any of his blades in time, enough time to put his hands up and hold the cat back, not enough. The cat growls, it's strength great and it's claws rake across Marcus chest, drawing teh sound of fabric been torn as well as blood. Marcus yells then, instant pain, not much else he can do.

Marcus may not be able to pull a blade in time, but Rayne was right there with him and had the advantage of not being in the cat's target. So she would draw one of the blades from the man's back and then swings around just as the cat is landing its attack on Marcus. She lunges forward with the blade and sticks into the cats side a couple times. "Die you foul creature!"

Marcus had barely enough strength to keep the creature off of him, the claws dig in once again. Life struggle for a bloody woman it seems, he had always thought he die because of a woman, just not this way. Still his strength fading and then he feels the weight of the cat on him and his breath leaves him. He is not sure what happened but some how he senses that the cat is dead in hsi pain stricken existence at the moment. The cat had little time to notice the wounds inflicted to it'sside, the last hittign it's heart and killing it instantly. It falls heavy on Marcus and then slides of the man, blood spilling all over the place now. Marcus half way pinned under the cat and barely moving.

Rayne would drop the blade, only then to move and attempt to push the cat's form completely off of Slider's body. "I do not think the great story of Marcus is destined to end in the forest, taken out by a cat..." She says this much though being without much anything she could use to stop the bleeding has her scanning the forest grounds a moment. Though she soon spots a few patches of some sort of plant, moving to pick them from the ground only to go back over, crunching them roughly in her hands to press against his chest. "Tis but a few scratches, Marcus... think you can stand on your feet again?"

Marcus is a bit winded, even after the cat is pushed over away from him. He does feel pain, though lucky for him it was not to deep, still they bleed well. As he is a bit out of it, it is Raynes pressure on his chest that brings him back to where he is and he looks at her. There is a small chuckle and he nods. " Yeah..can walk." he says in a slight painful way. He is not sure what she put on him but at this time he ain't caring. He slowly stands up, slowly keeps his footing and looks down at the cat.'"You..damn." he was going to curse but he has no energy. He looks at Rayne, a little dizzy but then looks around. " That way." is all he says. What a pair but they live right.

A simple gnashing of herbs meant to help null the pain a little while stopping the profusing bleeding. It was a rough thing, as she didn't have all she needed to make as good of a paste as she would like, but in a moment of desperation, it helped never the less. Once Marcus is on his feet and steady, she would nod and begins to limp-lead the both of them out of the forests and towards the city of Deave.

Marcus follows along, he had made sure to pick up the weapon and clean it as best he can, sure he has more but this one is his. So as they go and move, he has to stop several times, on occasion he has to look around, check a few things to eventually lead them to the city of Deave. He says not much on the way there, his strength kep to at least make to a place he can pass at least to relax, rest.
