Summary: Two Islander knights speak with a Two Rivers emissary | |||||||
|
Moshe enters the Inn and he nods to the innkeeper, he has been here before and the Innkeeper already knows what is required for him and his guests. After removing his cloak, they are guided to the table. Then setting his cloak on a hook, he takes a seat and motions to Garreth to take one as well. " Sir Garreth Cartwright, seems we are to be investigating the theft of the portrait together. Your name came up as a Knight that is honorable and so you have been assigned to me. Are you alright with that Sir Cartwright?"
Garreth follows Moshe into the Inn, scanning over the area and the patrons that are visible at the moment. As the group moves to the table, he slips off his cloak and hangs it up along with the others before he takes the offered seat. "Thank you, sir." He says as he hears the reputation he has gained. "I have no issues with it at all. I will do what I can to help the investigation and find the person or persons responsible for this theft."
The two Islanders will find a nobleman of the Two Rivers already seated at one of the tables. Ralph Fennim may be a member of one of the major families, yet that does not keep him from seeking out the Deave Inn for a cup of wine. It may not be the first cup he enjoys, as the slightly rosy colour of his cheeks may betray. He is clad in sombre black, breeches and doublet, with a white shirt underneath. His mien pensive, his dark gaze now and then moving towards the stairs that lead upstairs.
<FS3> Moshe rolls Perception: Good Success.
Moshe had not noticed right away as they sat that one of the Two Rivers delagates was within the Inn seats. Though after getting his wine and a bit of fruit to partake in he motions to Garreth. " Eat and drink, after this we will continue our duties." It is then he see's Ralph, he remembers the man. It is here he looks at Garreth. " Excuse me a moment." then he stands up and walks on over to the table that Ralph is at. " My apologies but are you not Lord Ralph, from Two Rivers?"
Garreth nods his head as he looks over to where Moshe is looking, but doesn't see the man in question. He then turns to the drink and picks up his own, taking a drink before he goes to get himself something to eat while Moshe excuses himself to speak to Ralph.
Dark eyes drift upwards, as the Fennim tilts his head a little, as if attemtping to get a better view of the man approaching him. "I am," he offers after a moment, his voice clear and of a pleasing lower register. "And you are... Sir Moshe, if I recall correctly? Sir Moshe Machuri. You fought well at the tourney." The cup is raised, as if in a toast to that, and a sip taken. "Would you like a word with me?" The question is tossed at the Islander after a moment. "Then pray have a seat." His gaze will flicker briefly towards the other knight, but that man is unknown to him, and so his attention will swiftly return to the Machuri.
Moshe looks at the man. " Yes, thank you, though I will say I have more to learn but it was a experience. Your Knights did well in the tournament as well." then a nod is given. " Yes if but briefly." then taking a seat across from the man. Then looks to Garreth. " Sir Cartwright, may as well join us, you're involved in this as well now." then looks to Ralph. " Yes, I had been meaning to go speak to you or Lord Alajos Fennim. To explain the situation and that I have been assigned to take over the investigation in the current situation plaguing both our kingdoms."
Garreth gathers something for himself to eat and starts back to the table, stopping as he hears his name being called. He nods his head once as he moves to the table, looking to Ralph before he bows his head slightly. "Good afternoon, my Lord." He says before he sits down, allowing Moshe to take the lead since he is the one in charge of the investigation.
Ralph inclines his head towards the other knight. "Sir Cartwright... pleased to make your acquaintance." This uttered in the direction of Garreth, before his attention shifts back to Moshe. "Our knights did well, aye." After all, one of them won the tourney, right? "I already supposed as much," the Fennim replies when the Machuri says he wanted to speak with him. "You mean His Grace, Duke Alajos?" One brow is raised, and a shrug follows. "I am ready to hear you out, Sir Moshe. As this 'situation' as you call it has already progressed to a stage that is slightly alarming, to say the least."
Moshe nods once again ." Yes, to explain the situation that has occured." then hearing about a alarming stage, which is news to him he frowns slightly. "Well, let me explain the situation and please do tell me if thsi would not be done in your kingdom." then tilting his head slightly. " There has been a murder and a theft of one of our most priced possessions. I have come to possibly see that they may be related in nature. My apologies that Miss Rayne has been implemented but we must take percausion in all sense of the word. She may have been a victim in this as well but you must understand how this looks. Caught redhanded by the body, hard not to accuse but I am here to find out the truth." pausing a moment then. " Miss Rayne has been moved from the cell to a room. She has been given a bath to clean herself up and clothing to wear. She will be as a guest and will eb treated as so, without leaving her room. Now, I do hope you understand this is how it is done here and hope you can pass this on to Duke Fennim."
Garreth remains silent as Moshe explains the situation, allowing the two to speak without interrupting while only making mental notes to himself about the details that are provided.
Ralph looks at the cup in his hands, while he listens attentively what Moshe has to say. Finally looking up, when the Islander is finished. His dark eyes more tinged with a hint of sadness than reproach. "Miss Rayne Devantry was taken to the dungeons," he begins. "After what we hear was an attempt to help a man that was already dead. But. No move whatsoever was made to inform us. The matter had to be brought forth to us by our own people. Nor where we invited to help in the investigation, which casts a rather queer light on how the matter was persued. Don't get me wrong, Sir Moshe. I understand you are doing your duty, but diplomatically speaking, this whole affair has been a desaster. My cousin,..." the Fennim lets out a sigh, his gaze drifting momentarily towards the window, "...my cousin, the Duke is highly displeased. He has written to the High Oni, with a complaint, and... as he lacks the subtlety, I fear Duke Alajos was quite candid in that letter, speaking of possible consequences this might have, in regards to future relations between our kingdoms." And this actually being quite nicely put, compared to the letter in question.
Those dark eyes return to the Machuri, and the hint of a smile appears on Ralph's face. "I am glad to hear though that her accomodations have improved. She is still a prisoner though. Now..." A glance towards the other knight. "What is the progress of your investigations, if I may be so bold to ask...?"
Moshe listens to Ralph and then slowly. " Things were done incorrectly in the begining. I had taken it on my own to see what really transpired but then a day or two later I was asked to investigate it. So at this time I have found evidenceof certain things I can't say out in public plus you must understand. I am not loking to accuse or find Miss Rayne not guilty. I am tasked to find evidence and find out exactly what had happened in all aspects of this situation." Then a frown appears even more pronounced on hsi face. " I have no authority to say anything about the political situation. That is tasked upon others of higher standing than myself. If I could lighten Duke Fennim's heart I would but that is what it is at this moment." then a pause as he looks around and then back again. " I know there was another woman involved other than Miss Rayne, once I find her, things may come to light. I do hope it lightens your heart as well Lord. As soon as I had been tasked, I set things in motion, finding right individuals to accompay me in this has been tasking in it's self. Hence Sir Cartwright has been charged to help me in this investigation."
Garreth nods his head as his name comes up, turning to look to Ralph. "I will do my best to help get to the truth behind what occurred. We'll make sure the proper individuals responsible will be brought to justice, my Lord." He says, bowing his head slightly.
Ralph inclines his head to Moshe's explanations. "I understand, Sir, yet you deserve to be informed with a similar frankness of how things are perceived from our perspective." The Fennim has another sip of wine, taking his time about it now as it seems, before he addresses the Machuri once again. "So... I have some questions. Will there be a trial, in which Miss Rayne will have to face the justice of your court? And when will that trial take place? Will she have help from a man of your country, versed in your laws, that will speak in her defense? Will there be witnesses called to speak before the court? Will we of the Two Rivers be allowed to attend the trial? That is how we would handle things at home, at Two Rivers."
Moshe nods to Garreth and then looks back to Ralph and then lightens up on his frowning, heseemsa bit more calm." Yes, there will be a trial and yes she would have to face the justice of our courts. The trial will take place in due time. I mean I have to gather as much evience as I can possibly gather, if it's too soon it may wrong. The trail will be set soon and my time is tight already to finish this. There will be someone on her side that will surely be knowing of our laws. In her defense there wil be witnesses brought forwards and or evidence. I do ask that if any of your people have information, to come and speak to me. I can't help Miss Rayne if I do not know all." then he leans in and looks firmly at Ralph. " I do ask that your people do not seek out justice in the wrong manner. If they wish to speak to me, then I will speak to them and listen. I will be around the Deaves Plaza and if I am not, Sir Cartwright should be."
"Very well." Ralph inclines his head, acknowledging the Machuri's words. "Sir Moshe, I will convey this to the members of the delegation. Yet... I'm curious. Have there been any insights as to the identity of the man who was killed? How are you proceeding. You mentioned this woman who was also seen at the place the crime took place? I understand you may not be free to share any information... But is there any progress really?"
Moshe hmms and then nods to Ralph. " Thank you Lord, I wish not to cause to many hard feelings between the Isles and the Two Rivers." then at the questions he sighs. " Well I have come across many things as of late and the progress is good, I have many others to see and to ask questions too."
The cup is emptied, and Ralph rises from his seat. "I am glad to hear that, Sir Moshe. I can only hope you will persue the matter with the required sensitivity and awareness of the political delicacy of the situation. And the required persistence, of course. I will speak to the Duke, and convey to him what you have told me. But for now, pray excuse me. I need to return to the Royal Guest House." A bow is offered to the two knights of the Isles, before the Fennim turns and leaves for the door.
