Room Desc: The air is cool and refreshing, the walls and pillars plain and of polished white marble, while the floor has a mosaic of dark grey and white, depicting a regular pattern of triangles. Two desks with chairs have been placed in the front, with room dividers of light blue cloth offering a feeling of privacy that might be deceiving. Seated there are two civil servants, men of solemn mien, who have worked here long before the King's Decree.
This hall used to be a Temple of Meladrys, as still can be seen from six statues, each about nine feet in height, three before the wall at the far side, two to the left and one to the right. All covered with the white cloth with red lining, the same kind that was used in covering those who died of the recent plague. Also, the wall to the left and right has been covered with blankets of red colour, to conceal religious paintings that are still there. A wide arched opening leads outside to Lenouvi Square.

The desks and the chairs, as well as those room dividers have been moved to the side, which gives this hall some of its former dignity. There before the veiled statue at the center stands Fernion, or Father Fernion as he was called before the decree - a man in his late fourties, with a bald head and a pair of friendly looking brown eyes. He wears a robe of grey, his gaze is lowered as he waits for the pair who is to be wed on this wonderful day. Lost in contemplation? Or... even engaged in a prayer of sorts, to the forbidden Gods? Fernion certainly won't tell, but when he raises his gaze a warm smile will appear on his boney features.

Ottis enters with Maerwynn on this glorious day. Ottis wears his finest clothing which isn't much, as it a light blue woolen shirt and blue with silver trim pants. Instead of wearing his typical boots he's sliped on his soft soled shoes, On his arm is Maerwynn in a lovely blue and silver dress, and slippers. Currently the Smith is choked up as he looks at his wife to be and does his best to keep his pace steady as he walks her down the Isle to the father.

Dressed nicely is Maerwynn in a recently made dress for this day. With a few flowers decorating her hair, she walks at Ottis' side, her hand on his arm. The woman has shiny eyes as well, and yet the smile does not seem to leave her lips either as they make their way down the aisle towards Fernion that waits them both. A glance to her side, and she's blushing more before turning back to the good father... man.

Fernion's smile seems to intensify as he sees the pair approaching, and his eyes gain a certain sparkle. He will wait patiently until Maerwynn and Ottis are close enough, before addressing them, but when he does he raises both his arms in a gesture that could be a resemblance of a hug. "I greet you both, and if I am not mistaken you are Mistress Maerwynn Vavassour and Master Ottis Penderghast, and intend to be joined in marriage. An endeavour that some might call audacious, but most will agree with me: That it is a challenge, that will reward those who are brave enough to face it with the most precious prize: A family." The former priest smirks a bit, as his hands fold before him.

Ottis looks from Maerwynn to father Fernion and smiles brightly. "Aye father that is us.. " as he steps up as close as ceremony demands for such a blessed event.

Maerwynn nods her head once, soon to answer afterward Ottis, "Yes, you have us correctly named." As Fernion continues, she listens, reaching out for Ottis' hand to lace her fingers with his, offering it a squeeze.

"Very well then," Fernion says, as his hands once again unclasp and he raises them with the palms turned upwards. "In order not to make this a lengthy affair,... I will proceed." The ceremony has been stripped of all parts that could have made it longer anyway, given that any reference to the gods is no longer allowed. The former priest may not call them by their names though, but he casts a telling glance towards the veiled statues, before he continues, as if assuring the pair of the blessings from up above.

Taking a hand of each in one of his own he will join them, his own fingers wrapped about them as he begins with the ceremony. "Maerwynn Vavassour, will you take this man as your husband, vow to stay with him through good times and bad, till death will tear you apart?", he intones with a friendly smile towards the apothecary.

Maerwynn's gaze does follow the once-father's towards the veiled statues, saying her own silent prayers before her hand is taken by he to be joined with Ottis'. "I do." Short and simple, and offered with a smile given to the smith at her side. "Till death and beyond." She promises quietly.

A light flicker shows in Fernion's gaze, when he notices Maerwynn's attention lingering on the statues for a moment, and he lowers his gaze for a moment. He will nod when he hears her reply, his eyes rising to meet her gaze as he smiles at her, before his attention will shift to the smith. "Ottis Penderghast, do you take this woman as your wife, and vow to stay with her through good times and bad? Till death will tear you apart?" His fingers still holding those hands joined before him, the former priest awaits the answer of the husband-to-be.

Ottis watchs Maerwynn the whole time and as he lets out his held breath on her answer he grins brightly and nods his head "Aye I do.. and most happily at that. " as he gives her hand a gentle squeeze, even though they are also being held by the fathers (priest)

"Then I pronounce you husband and wife, through the laws of the King, and the Two Rivers. May your marriage be fruitful and blessed." By the Gods. "May you never have to endure those hardships I mentioned." And with that said, Fernion lets go of the hands, a merry grin now on his lips. "Your marriage will be recorded in the chronicles of Equis. I offer you my best wishes." In the name of the Gods. "Oh,...", he adds after a moment, with a chuckle. "You may kiss the bride, Master Ottis." And he steps back, his gaze flickering again towards those veiled statues.

Ottis indeed does kiss his bride, stepping up to her and slipping his arms around her waist a she kiss's her and quite soundly too.

Maerwynn is still smiling as the words are then asked of Ottis, and upon hearing his answer, her hand tightens beneath the priest's upon the smith's. With such benediction, she looks to the statues again, offering once more her own silent prayer of thanks to them as Fernion pronounces them man and wife. When he pauses, laughing, and advises Ottis he might kiss her, Maerwynn turns and accepts the kiss quite gladly, her arms circling his neck to return it.

Fernion will not bother them with obtrusive stares, he seems to be caught in the positive meaning of the ceremony still, as his smile suggests, as he lowers his gaze, his hands again folding before him.

Ottis turns to the father and smiles, "what do we owe ye for the service good father. " as he wants to thank the priest for his services.

"Oh, nothing. It didn't cost back then. It doesn't cost you now," Fernion is quick to reply, although his brows twitch slightly upwards at the question. Some sort of donation may have been the custom before the decree. "The King is aware, that marriages are important. He has agreed to cover all the costs of commoner marriages," he clarifies further. "Especially in times as these."

Maerwynn glances to Ottis, but as Fernion declines, she smiles, soon to step forwards to offer the small pouch that they'd put together. It's given to the father with a press of her hand to his, "Then we thank you for overseeing our wedding, and offering us such words for our future." For giving them the silent blessing of the Gods.

Ottis looks to maerwynn and grins, as she beat him too it. He too places a hand on the fathers shoulder as he gives thanks.

Fernion's gaze drops to the pouch in his hand, and for one moment it seems he will protest. But then he looks up, returning the smile, as he stows the pouch away in his robe. "I accept your thanks," he replies, shooting Maerwynn a look that might tell her he will put the money to good use. His gaze shifting to Ottis next, before he inclines his head.

A brief nod of Maerwynn's head is given to Fernion at the look, the smile warming further. Whatever use the man can make of the coins given, will but make her glad for it. Stepping back to Ottis' side, she speaks, "Thank you again.." One last look to the statues are given beforeshe turns to Ottis, "Shall we head back home, husband?"
